Are you Swiss? Because if not, why would you be implying to Portuguese readers of your newsletter that you hope Portugal loses? It's just unnecessarily rude.
First and foremost congratulations on an impressive win and at last we get the best selection for Portugal and a great result.
I'm sorry that you felt I was being unnecessarily rude to yourself and other Portuguese readers. I think if you reread what I wrote I was implying that I hoped the Swiss play a more expansive game (like they did versus Serbia) rather than their more defensive displays (like we saw versus Brazil and Cameroon) and if they did so they would both test Portugal's defensive frailties (which I believe to be the case. They are the team in the last 8 who have conceded the most goals) and if they did so this would allow Portugal to play their attacking game and if they did we could "get quite a game".
At no point did I actually say or imply that I wished Portugal to lose or for that matter any team in the tournament.
I am not Swiss but when I write about the WC I like to think I take a neutral stance as I realise how important football is to a lot of people.
I hope this explains my thinking and what I wrote Miguel and I wish you good luck for the remainder of the tournament.
It was not so much what was said but rather implied, but I am sure you meant well and I am sorry for overreacting and misinterpreting the message.
Thank you for taking the time with a graceful and comprehensive response and let me congratulate you on the wonderful job you guys are doing of summarizing the Financial news. I appreciate the effort and utility and will be sure to spread the word the best I can!
Best of luck for whoever you may be hoping wins the tournament!
Thanks Miguel for your kind words and continued support it is very much appreciated!
As a Scot sadly my "interest" in the tournament is purely as a love of the game. Im just enjoying the good football and hoping the quality and excitement continues. Good luck
Thanks for the mention team, keep up the good work!!
Callum. You're welcome and thanks for your fine work. Its a pleasure to be able to have a platform to mention it.
That shootout killed me. I counted my chickens too quickly. Though I was going to make some money on an otherwise miserable day.

Great letter !!
Love the WC commentary.
That note on the 1980's Japanese property valuation was incredible...
I remember how strong ever one thought Japan was back then, kinda of like they do China, now.
But we find things do change in our dynamic global economy and perception, isn't always reality.
Thanks Steven for your kind words and as ever your continued support
